Come in
In my dream world, I will be living in this home with a big garden and a welcoming porch. Neighbors will stop by anytime for a cup of tea and conversations. Grand children, nieces and nephews will be alternating their visits. Stories will be told. I will learn about their accomplishments and they dreams. I will tell them my story, their story.
Helas, I live thousands of miles from most of my family which is literally scattered across the world. Including my children who are miles from me and each other. This young generation like the ones before them, have questions. They need intergenerational interaction like the one I benefited from growing up. Let's be realistic, even for those family who have the blessing to live in proximity, even before Covid19 confined us in our own bubbles, most people are more likely to spend time online than with their family. It is the world we live in now.
I feel like our generation, especially those like me who immigrated as adults to the USA are not equally represented online. The few who are there, it is mainly to find and connect with family and friends. Very few add contents. So how are our children going to connect to us. How are we connecting to them? Their questions go to google who can't spell our name never mind understand our heritage.
Well, I figured I moved in a foreign land before. I learned a new language and culture. So here I am in adventure again. Willing to learn and navigate the world wide web. To find a domain, to start a blog and claim my corner. Though I am happy and excited to do so, this is a challenge. Writing is not my forte. I have read that the only way to learn is just to do it. So here I am. Do not take anything I say for granted. It might not mean what it seems, because even after 24 years, English is still a second language and sometimes things get lost in translation. So don't second guess, send me a question or comment.
I hope this will be interactive. On one condition, this will be a positive uplifting space. Zero tolerance for rudeness, unkindness. It is okay to not reply or comment.
